The headland between Ayia Napa and Protaras is a national forest park of 385 hectares, with sea caves, a natural rock arch, clifftop views and around four kilometres of purpose-built bicycle track. From an Ayia Napa hotel you are minutes from the entrance.
Set your expectations correctly and you will love it. This is coastal terrain (rock, low scrub, hard ground and long views), not forest singletrack. It is not technically extreme, which makes it a good introduction for anyone competent on a road bike and curious about coming off one. The difficulty is the surface and the heat rather than the riding.
- There is no shade and no water anywhere on the headland. That is the single most important planning fact about riding here and it matters more than any line choice. Go early, take more than you think.
- It is a walking destination too. Expect people on every track and give way to them.
- A hardtail is the right tool, not a compromise. The ground is hard and rocky rather than soft and technical, so suspension travel buys less here than pedalling efficiency does on the long flat links.
- Stay on the established tracks. The scrub recovers slowly and cut lines show for years.

And the road riding, which is not an afterthought
The coast road round the headland to Protaras is the ride visitors picture when they imagine cycling here, and it delivers. It is short, gentle and best done early: in summer for the heat, and in spring and autumn because this is the busiest road in the region once the day gets going. We have written it up as its own ride.
Inland, the red-soil farming villages are quiet, sheltered from the sea wind, and a completely different Cyprus from the one you can see from the hotel. That contrast, an exposed coast and a sheltered interior a few kilometres apart, is the practical advantage of being based at this end of the island, because the wind never writes off the whole day.

Worked out from your inseam × 0.665, the standard road-frame rule, measured centre-to-top. It is a starting point, not a bike fit: leg-to-torso ratio, flexibility and how you like to ride all move it. We check the fit at handover and adjust the bike before you leave with it.

That is the price of the run, and it includes the first bike. Each extra bike on the same trip adds €5, so three bikes to one address, on one day, in one time window, is one van and one charge, not three. Split them across different days or different windows and it is a second van at the full price. It is charged once per hire, not per day.
We are with you between 09:00 and 10:00, Monday to Saturday, and we pick the bike up in the same hour at the end. That hour is before the shop opens, so your first morning starts on the bike. Or collect it yourself from 285 Protaras Avenue in Paralimni for nothing, any open day before 12:00.
Before you book
- Three days is the minimum hire, and a mountain bike and a road bike are separate bookings if you want one of each.
- We are open Monday to Saturday, so a hire starts and ends on one of those days. Riding through Sunday is fine, as long as the handover falls on an open day.
- Pick your frame size when you book. Each size is a separate bike, so what the calendar shows as free has not gone to anyone else.
- A €100 refundable damage deposit is taken at handover and returned when the bike comes back.
- Every bike goes out with a spare tube, levers and a pump. On the headland that is not a formality: sharp limestone is the classic way a good morning ends early. They come back with the bike, and a used tube is replaced at €10.
