One shop, one coach, one island
Ramo Pro Cycling is a bike shop, a workshop, a rental fleet and a coaching practice run from the same door on Protaras Avenue. The person who fits your rental bike is the person who coaches you, and he has been riding since he was ten years old.

National competition · aged fifteen
It started on a borrowed bike
The shop opened in Paralimni in August 2013. The story starts twenty-five years before that, in a school assembly, with a bike that was not his.
In 1988 a man came to Omar’s school and announced that anyone interested in cycling should bring a bike the next day after school. Omar was ten and did not own one. He went home, looked at his older brother’s bike, the one used for carrying the shopping, and set about making it look like something else.
I removed the basket and any other accessories I could to make it look cooler, and I turned up the next day to the meeting. From this day my passion for cycling was ignited.
Omar Hamad
He went to every meeting after that. Within a few weeks he finished sixth in his first ever race, on the same bike. His coach saw the commitment and pushed him, and at thirteen he had a place on the national team, which is where the rest of it comes from: technique, how a training week is built, how to hold a wheel in a group, and how a bicycle is put together.
That last one is the reason there is a workshop bench behind the counter rather than a phone number for someone else’s. A national-squad junior learns to fix his own bike because nobody else is going to, and thirty-odd years later the habit is a service centre.
Ramo Pro Cycling was a plan for a long time before it was a shop. It opened in August 2013 on Protaras Avenue: a rental fleet, a workshop, and one coach who had been on both sides of the sport.
Omar Hamad
A former national-team cyclist who never left the sport: still racing as a master, and coaching internationally for more than twenty-five years.
Omar came to coaching the long way round: as an athlete first, and then through the certifications and the sports-science reading that turn instinct into something you can hand to somebody else. That order matters more than it sounds. A coach who has only ever coached will write you a training week that looks correct. A coach who has raced knows which session you will actually do on a Thursday evening in August.
On paper it reads as personal training and sports coaching, with diplomas in life coaching, sports nutrition and personal development, and higher education in youth development and professional cycling. In practice it means he can take a rider who has never followed a plan and one who is chasing a podium, and give both of them something honest about where they are now.
He coaches across five disciplines (road cycling, triathlon, swimming, gym and youth development), which is the reason a triathlon block or an off-season strength plan holds together here instead of being three people’s opinions stapled to a calendar.
The work has not all been on this island. In 2017 Ramo Pro Cycling ran a cycling education programme in Saudi Arabia, teaching riding and coaching from the first pedal stroke up, sponsored by His Highness Prince Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The team spent the season in the Kingdom and came home with a great deal more than it took.
The youth side started at home in 2014, teaching children to ride and race with the safety knowledge to go with it, and it ran from April to November every year after that. The clubs are being rebuilt now, so nothing is bookable while that happens. Some of those riders are now the age Omar was when he joined the national squad.

The short version
The same story as above, in order, for anyone who would rather scan it than read it.
1988
A borrowed bike
A man came to the school assembly and asked anyone interested in cycling to bring a bike the next day. Omar was ten and did not have one, so he took the shopping basket off his older brother’s.
Weeks later
Sixth, first time out
His first race, a few weeks after that first meeting. Sixth place, and a coach who had seen enough to start pushing him.
At thirteen
The national team
Where the rest of it came from: technique, how training is built, riding safely in a bunch, and how a bicycle works well enough to fix one.
August 2013
The doors open
Ramo Pro Cycling opens on Protaras Avenue in Paralimni: a rental fleet, a workshop, and one coach who had been on both sides of the sport.
2014
The youth side
Teaching children to ride and race, with the safety knowledge to go with it. April to November each season, and being rebuilt now.
2017
Coaching abroad
A cycling education programme run outside Cyprus, teaching riding and coaching to local riders. It is written up in full further up this page.
Today
One base, one island
Bike rental, guided tours, the route library, coaching, training camps and the workshop: all of it from the same door on Protaras Avenue.
Body and mind
Omar calls his approach Body & Mind, and it is not a slogan about balance. It is a working answer to why people stop. Almost nobody who abandons a training plan abandons it for a physiological reason. So the mental side is built at the same time as the physical one, from the first week, not bolted on when something goes wrong.
The technical
The mechanics of the sport, and finding your particular strengths and weaknesses before a single session is written.
The physical
Strength, endurance and mobility, balanced against recovery. Too much and you get hurt; too little and you arrive unprepared.
The mental
Visualisation, goal-setting and handling pressure. His coaching style is motivational, influenced by life coaching and CBT techniques.
Everything around it
Sleep, food, the week you actually have. A plan that ignores your job and your family is a plan you will quit in six weeks.
It is also why the youth programme exists in the shape it does. Children are taught to enjoy riding first and to race second, on the view that the ones who love it are the ones still doing it at thirty, and that a coach is, for a few years, something closer to a second parent than a stopwatch.
The shop
285 Protaras Avenue, Paralimni: a real workshop with real mechanics, not a rack of bikes in a hotel lobby.
In-house service centre
Our own bench, our own mechanics.
Professional bike wash
Drivetrain included.
Rental fleet in real sizes
S to XL, aluminium and carbon.
Professional fitting
Every rental set up before it leaves.
Guided rides
A coffee loop, a coastal route, a mountain day.
Training camps
Amateur through semi-professional.
All of it is one business, which is why a rental problem mid-holiday gets fixed on the same bench that services the fleet, and why the person who sets your saddle height is the one who wrote your training week.
What clients say
Coaching clients and riders who hired a bike, in their own words, unedited apart from trimming the sign-offs.
Personal training · 12-week programme
“I am a 67 year old man who has suffered with diabetes and high blood pressure for years. I have also been very overweight. I always dismissed the suggestion of a personal trainer as a waste of time and money.
When I began with Coach Ramo I was 119.5 kilos. After 12 weeks I was 109 kilos and now a further two weeks on I am down to 107.5 kilos. Not only that, my latest blood test result put me in the category of pre-diabetic. I have energy, going for walks is a pleasure instead of a pain, and I have even bought a bike. When we started I couldn’t do one push up, now I can do 18. I even took part in a 5k run.
Ramo takes time to get to know your strengths and weaknesses and prepares a program that is long term and sustainable. He pushes you a little further than you think you can go but also knows when to stop. And he cares.”

Swim coaching
“A good coach sharpens your technique and builds your stamina, but a great coach goes beyond that — they inspire and motivate you to push your limits, even when they’re not physically present.
Ramo Coach has been pivotal in identifying and addressing my weaknesses, turning them into opportunities for growth. His keen eye for technique and unwavering support during challenging moments have made a world of difference.
Thank you, Ramo, for your dedication, encouragement, and for showing me that limits are meant to be exceeded.”

Youth swim course, parent
“You gained her trust and respect from day 1, which was very important for such a short training course. You were flexible with dates and understanding, which I really appreciated especially when she was not feeling well.
I could tell immediately that you were an experienced coach as you assessed her and built a plan from day 1. Sessions started on time and were well structured with targets that she needed to reach. You had patience with her even at times that she was tired.
She improved a lot during the course and she realised it too. The training course gave her confidence that she can swim without aid in the big swimming pool at her school.”

Business coach
“I had an amazing time. The training was excellent, and the coach truly knows his craft. He pushed me to my limits, helping me achieve more than I thought possible. Highly recommend.”

Road bike hire · 7 days
“Rented a bike from RAMO pro cycling for 7 days in July 2025. Good range of bikes on offer, but I opted for a carbon fiber Cube with 105 group set. Omar the owner is a font of knowledge for you to tap into. He will fit the bike for you and give you all the advice and tips you need for riding locally.
During the 7 day rental, I had no issues with the bike, which performed faultless. I only popped back into the store to pump the tyres up after a couple of days.
Loads of local routes and roads to explore, bike lanes and good roads, also the local drivers are more patient than those back in the UK.”

Coffee tour & historical tour
“I can really recommend Ramo if you want to go on a cool ride. He knows his stuff, is very friendly and a great tour guide. He will take breaks if you want him to. He wants you to have a great time and does his best to make you feel comfortable.
I did 2 tours with him – the coffee tour and the historical tour.”
